Abstract

This research aims at reaching the disclosure of the relations of Arab researchers with orientalists, through codicology science. Codicology is that science which is concerned with studying the physical aspects of the manuscript, given that the manuscript is an archaeological document that should be dealt with according to other rules, other than those which are interested in searching for and studying ancient texts in preparation for printing and publishing them. Arab researchers have been interested in the textual content of the manuscripts, in preparation for publication after extensive study to reach the investigation that falls within the science of text verification. As for the orientalists, they, in addition to transferring from our heritage, took the initiative to study the physical aspect of the manuscript, such as inks, papers, and all other writing supplies. Keywords: texts, writing, codec.
