Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

  1. Introduction
The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significant implications for research and publication practices. Our journal is dedicated to maintaining the highest ethical standards, transparency, and integrity in research involving AI. This policy sets out the guidelines for the use of AI in submissions to our journal.
  2. Scope
This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to our journal where AI is used in any part of the research process, including data analysis, writing assistance, experimental design, or result interpretation.
  3. Transparency and Disclosure
  • Disclosure of AI Use: Authors must clearly state when AI has been used in their research or manuscript preparation. This includes identifying the AI tools, algorithms, or software involved and explaining their role in the research process.
  • AI Contributions: Any part of the manuscript created or substantially influenced by AI should be clearly indicated. Authors must ensure that AI does not compromise the originality or intellectual value of the research.
  1. Ethical Considerations
  • Bias and Fairness: Authors should actively identify and address potential biases in AI algorithms, ensuring that AI use does not reinforce or worsen existing biases.
  • Data Privacy: AI must be used in compliance with all applicable data protection laws and ethical standards. Authors should ensure AI systems protect individual privacy and confidentiality.
  • Human Oversight: AI should be used as a supplement to, not a replacement for, human judgment. Authors remain responsible and accountable for the integrity and content of their research.
  1. Accuracy and Reliability
  • Validation and Verification: Authors must validate and verify AI-generated outputs. This includes performing checks for robustness and ensuring the reproducibility of results.
  • Documentation: Authors should provide comprehensive documentation of AI methods, including source code, training data, and parameters, to allow for replication and verification of the research.
  1. Intellectual Property and Authorship
  • Authorship Criteria: AI cannot be listed as an author. Authorship is reserved for individuals who meet the criteria based on their intellectual contributions to the research. The use of AI tools does not qualify one for authorship.
  • Attribution: Proper credit must be given to the developers and sources of any AI tools or datasets used. Relevant literature should be cited, and contributions must be acknowledged accordingly.
  1. Misuse of AI
  • Plagiarism Detection: The journal uses AI tools to detect plagiarism and ensure the originality of submissions. Authors who use AI to generate content without proper attribution will face penalties, including manuscript rejection.
  • Fabrication and Falsification: The use of AI to fabricate or falsify data, results, or any part of the research is strictly prohibited. Violations will result in severe consequences, including article retraction and bans on future submissions.
  1. Review and Monitoring
  • Peer Review: Manuscripts that involve AI will undergo a thorough peer review process, including evaluation by AI experts to ensure compliance with ethical standards and methodological rigor.
  • Policy Updates: The journal will regularly review and update this policy to keep pace with advances in AI technology and evolving ethical considerations.
