Abstract

The purpose of the research is to show the actual reality of the Central Library of Charmo University, the reality of the services provided by this library and the information technologies it adopts, and the diagnosis and treatment of the strengths and weaknesses of this library, as well as studying the physical and human factors and their impact on the services provided. And its implications, the study followed descriptive approach to know the views of beneficiaries,Description of the central library in terms of buildings,sections, staffing and the techniques used mostly, Personal, which included a series of questions, the study contained two tables and one appendix.The research came out with a number of results:-1. Lack of staffing working in most libraries, especially the specialists in the field of library and information science.2. The weakness of the use of information technology represented by electronic databases and CD-ROMs and the Internet.3. Lack of departments in the library, such as the cataloging and classification section, the acquisition department the information services etcThe most important recommendations suggested in this study are:-1. Provide highly qualified academic staff and work to develop their qualifications and skills by seeking to obtain higher degrees in specialization or to enter training courses.2. Introduction of information technologies, computers, electronic databases and library automation systems to all stages of the office procedures.3 - Redesign library and the opening new sections of the library, like cataloging and classification, acquisition department, information services etc
