News Coverage of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation: An Analytical Study of the Al-Iraqiya News Channel Facebook Page
Abstract
This study analyzed the news coverage of the Aqsa Flood operation by the Iraqi News Channel on its official Facebook page. The study aimed to assess the objectivity and comprehensiveness of the coverage, as well as analyze the media discourse used. The research addressed questions related to the direction of news coverage, journalistic techniques employed, and prominent news presentation times.The study followed a descriptive approach, using a survey and content analysis method. Data was collected by analyzing posts on the channels page. The results indicated that the news coverage by the Iraqi News Channel for the Aqsa Flood operation was largely objective. The main coverage categories focused on humanitarian situations, Palestinian casualties, and the Arab and Iraqi stance on the events. The news coverage had a positive direction towards the events. Regarding journalistic techniques, the channel utilized news articles and talk shows. The primary sources of information related to the Aqsa events were news agencies and the network of correspondents affiliated with the Iraqi News Channel. News was predominantly posted during the evening and noon hours on the page.
