The Effects of Culture one the Teaching of Arabic
Abstract
The common feelings and thoughts of societies have always been transferred through language up until now and they will be transferred tomorrow by means of language as well. Therefore, language is at the same time a transmitter and a means of culture. The history, culture, values, art, literature and scientific savings of a society are transferred by language. Language means the formation of a nation, its existence and coming to life. There is no doubt that one of the most important aspects sustaining a nation is language. The language of a nation is seen as the product of its culture and civilization. Because language is the fundamental element, it brings the cultures and civilizations of societies to present time and transfers them to the future ages. There is no doubt that language is the depicter of a societys frame of mind. However, what creates the language is the culture of the society. This shows that language and culture are mutually affected from each other. Yet, no private culture can form with merely the interaction of language and culture. The reason for this is there is no simple culture on the earth, which means that all cultures are affected from each other. Therefore, it is possible to mention many aspects affecting the language and forming the culture. Nonetheless, in order to limit the present study, only in terms of Arab language, the relation between culture and language, the effect of social and political habits on language, the effect of beliefs on language, and the effect of natural conditions and geography on language will be mentioned.
