Abstract

One of the important phases/periods of Turkish literature is Classical Turkish Literature, also called Divan literature. This literature is also described as Ottoman period Turkish literature. This literature covers the formation process of the Ottoman poetry tradition. Ottoman literature includes the centers of dominance in the Balkans and Europe in the west, especially in Anatolia and Rumelia, Iran, Azerbaijan, the cities of the Caucasus geography in the east, Iraq and Syria in the south, and even the geography of Egypt. Some poets who lived in the Ottoman period were born and lived in these regions, although some were born here, they lived in other cities of the Ottoman state, especially in Istanbul. Some poets came to the capital city/Istanbul and performed their poetry and their duties. In the tradition of poetry and literature, instead of where a poet was born or where he is from, what kind of artist he is and what artistic understanding he adopts, in short, his poetic stance is important. However, in terms of literary history, information about the limits in which a literary tradition developed or reached, and the areas in which the literary tradition spread, is equally important. Many perceptions such as regional factors, economic and social life, religious and sectarian differences can manifest themselves in the performed art. All this means that people carry a trace of where they were born or lived. In this study, the poets of the Iraqi region, especially Mosul, who have traces of Ottoman literature, influenced this literature and produced works in this process will be examined. In our review, some Mosul poets who have divans (poetry books) and whose poems are included in poetry magazines will be presented with a general introduction and examples of their poems. It will be tried to examine the works of these poets in the classical literature tradition and their place in the Ottoman poetry tradition. In this context, the literary activities in Mosul and the contribution of this city to literature will be emphasized.
