Poetry is a unique literary art
Abstract
In this study, we deal with poetry as a literary, artistic, unique, and distinctive genre that has been used by man since ancient times as a means of expressing his feelings and thoughts through a certain rhythmic language. We also deal with the versification which is a set of rules and processes that contribute to the construction of the poem, as it consists of certain verses, syllables, and rhymes that determine the form and type of these poems. Poetry consists of different types according to the purpose and characteristics for which it was organized, including lyrical, epic, satirical, educational, and theatrical poetry. In this study, we also deal with poetic language, which is characterized by several point, including repetition, displacement, freedom of meaning, etc. On the other hand, we deal with the relationship of poetry with stylistic forms, which are a basic element in poems, and which are clearly used in poetry like repletion (anaphora, assonance, and so on) and poetic images (comparison, metaphor, and so on). Finally, we explain the relationship between poetry and music, and it seems that rhythm is the common element between them.
