University Libraries and the Extent of their Support for E-learning: The sub-libraries of the University of Mosul as a Model
Abstract
The study aims to identify the most important roles offered by university libraries to support e-learning and the requirements that must be met in them, In addition to getting acquainted with the reality of the researched libraries in terms of the technologies available in them that would contribute to supporting e-learning and identifying the material and human capabilities available to these libraries To provide electronic information services and what services are provided in them, The study used the survey method by collecting data and then analyzing it based on the questions of the questionnaire that were distributed to (27) people to know their opinions about the items of the questionnaire from the officials of the libraries of colleges and research centers . The study came out with several results, Despite the developments in the field of information and communication technology in university libraries and information institutions, the sub-university libraries (college libraries and research centers at the University of Mosul) still use the minimum amount of this technology. These sub-libraries still provide their services in a traditional. The study reached a set of recommendations, including the need to hold intensive training courses in order to clarify the impact of the use and application of information and communication technology in providing its services as a whole and not as a part, in order to increase awareness of its importance on the one hand, and its use in any of the library's activities on the other hand
