Difficulties faced in inserting literary text in French lessons as a foreign language
Abstract
A literary text is considered as a difficult type of text, it has a linguistic and cultural value. The usage of literature in teaching and learning French as a foreign language requires talking about the difficulties that confront language lecturers and students once the literary text is inserted as a helpful tool. The structure of literary text, the intercultural aspect of it and the stereotypical image of the French language among learners constitute the most common advantages and challenges of the literary text at the same time. As it turned out, the role of the lecturer as well as the role of the learner in class and which literary genre is suitable for a language theme would have an impact on the success of inserting literary text. In addition to this, the idea of making a comparison between French culture through the literary text and another similar literary text in the mother tongue of students as well as the idea of using audio and visual supplements would increase the capacity of sensory perceptions and make the literary text more effective to tackle in language lessons, which is the heart of the language.
