Abstract

Time is an important element along with the rest of the narrative elements since it contributes to defining the nature, form, and structure of the novel, and is considered a basic component of the novel form in excitement and fascination . One of the basic sources of fictional writing is retrieval and anticipation. Accordingly, we divided the research into two main sections. The first one involves retrieval and reminiscence preceded by a definition of time as an introduction to the research. To the recipient, the recalls varied, including a semantic antagonism, and others dealt with the concept of vision and the concept of thought, and some of them took the form of question and answer, then we reviewed each method with a simple explanation through which the method is clarified and the saying is supported by examples from the novel . The second section involves anticipation or narrative anticipation, which diversified and took many forms in the form of an advertisement or an indication of what future events will lead to, and the selection of examples or models from the novel. It is a structural element that affects and reflects on other elements. The study of fictional time requires shedding light on its relationship to the place and the rest of the fictional elements, because (time) is completely related to it (the elements), in order to influence and be affected by it, and in the end, it forms a state of narrative compatibility between these elements as interrelated artistic rules that are established in the fictional text that does not materialize technically, it is only achieved and completed in it.
