Abstract

The body is one of the thorny and complex topics in literature in general, and poetry in particular, as it raises through its presence, influence, and content; many questions and inquiries to the recipient who is trying to decode it and know the extent of its movement, emotion, and ecstasy. The movement of the body or any member of it represents a tool that helps us convey meaning to others. Because of his great and effective influence and his amazing ability to express what goes on in the souls of feelings and emotions honestly and spontaneously. From here, the body represents an emotional sign, through which we can understand the inner self. The shape of the body is a prominent phenomenon in Al-Arajis poetry, in which his creativity in describing his beloved as a sensual and bodily character appears in differently in significance and content, and in his language approaches many of the pre-Islamic poetic texts in its vocabulary and meanings. Through investigating Al-Araji's poetical works, we found , we found that the poet used self-expression in his works by mentioning some of his body members for expressing love, sadness, and anger. From another perspective, he referred to the either body wither man or woman intending a specific mention.
