Abstract

The study aims to identify the supervisory competencies of the educational supervisor and specialist and to determine the degree of practice of these competencies from the perspective of physical education teachers. The descriptive analytical method was used because it suits the study's two objectives. The study population included 827 physical education teachers in public schools in Mosul, of which 583 were teachers and 244 were instructors. The research sample was randomly selected, consisting of 233 individuals, representing 28% of the study population from both genders. The two researchers used source analysis, questionnaires, and personal interviews. A questionnaire was prepared to evaluate the educational supervisor's supervisory competencies from the physical education teachers' perspective. The final version of the questionnaire consisted of 67 items divided into nine competencies. After verifying the scientific validity of the questionnaire through expert validation, internal consistency, and construct validity, the reliability of the questionnaire was confirmed using two methods: split-half reliability and Cronbachs alpha coefficient. The questionnaire was then distributed to the sample. The study's main findings were identifying the supervisory competencies of the educational supervisor and developing a list of supervisory competencies for physical education supervisors, which included 67 sub-competencies classified into nine main competencies. From the perspective of physical education teachers in Mosul, the educational supervisor and specialist's degree of practice in these supervisory competencies was found to be at a moderate level overall and precisely for all competencies.
