Abstract

The study sheds light on the functional requirements for FRSAD authority data, its concept, uses, characteristics, entities and relationships, as well as identifying the extent of the readiness of academic libraries at the local level for the country to work in the network environment through knowledge of the tools available to them of authority control of subjects from authority files or authority records. As well as the cooperative projects in which they participate to support this aspect of the authority work, and to identify the problems and difficulties that these libraries face in the authority work. (30) libraries, and the study came out with a set of results, the most important of which is that most of the libraries of the study sample (16 libraries out of 18), i.e. 88.8%, do not have authority files or authority records for topics, whether traditional or electronic. The two researchers also called the academic community, workers and those interested in The field of library and information to activate the importance of authority files or authority records (MARC 21 record Authority) in every library or information center, for its money of positive returns in controlling and standardizing the formulas of the topics used as an access point in its catalogs first and for its users secondly and on the ease of integration with cooperative projects in this field in the third degree
