Abstract
Al-Bataeh area represented one of the important places in Iraq throughout history, because of its agricultural and economic importance from ancient times to the present. And this region, throughout different areas of history, was subjected to economic crises due to its geographical location, which is represented in a low land in southern Iraq, and this is what made it exposed from time to time to floods due to the mixing of the waters of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and thus this region becomes under pressure from the waters of these two rivers in seasons of floods. From all that came the selection of this research in order to shed light on this region and its geographical reality and how its economic reality was from the pre-Islamic era until the end of the first Abbasid era. The research was divided into two demands: the first requirement talks about the definition of al-Bataeh and its geographical and economic reality until the end of the Rashidun era. The second requirement: It talks about its economic reality in the Umayyad and Abbasid eras.
