Evaluativeness in Argumentative texts
Abstract
This study shows how evluativeness plays an important role in argumentative text. It aims at revealing the levels of argumentative text i.e., micro level and macro level that go hand in hand to create argumentative text. Micro level refers to evaluative elements (verbs, collocations, conjunctive and modality) that unfold the text producer's attitude towards certain subject matter, whereas macro level refers to the strategy (counter- argumentation and through argumentation) that contributes to the macro structure of the argumentative text. Thus, the focus of an argumentative text is on the evaluation of relations between concepts. The basic elements of this type are conceptual, expository and evaluative.
