Abstract

This research reveal the Eastern roots of Western romanticism, by analyzing the different historic contexts, and the influence of ancient eastern civilizations had on Greek civilization. In ancient times the Greek civilization did not include the European world as it is recognized today. The Greek civilization was an extension of the interactive of many civilizations, the most important of which were the Eastern civilizations in Egypt, Iraq and Persia. The Greece's legacy carried with it the principles of romantic images in ancient Eastern art and literature. In the subsequent, the research reveals the influence of East civilization on the European, from the Andalusian period onwards. The research contains a definition of romance, as an intellectual tendency rather than a literary one, so it has influenced the emergence of mager changes in the world. This paper shows that the early pioneers of European were influenced by in Eastern literature, especially Arabic literature, through the book of the Arabian Nights and poetry of Andalusians, and other confiscation. Finally we present examples of texts selected from different European literature; influenced by the literature of the East; as well as testimonies of critics, writers and travelers.
