Abstract

The Levant has been the focus of international conflicts in its ancient, modern and contemporary history because of its important strategic position and great economic resources. In the Ottoman era, this region was not stable since they ruled it in 1517 A.D. until the beginning of the nineteenth century in all political, economic and social fields. Therefore, this made it the focus of the regional and international powers, and since they constitute the strategic depth of Egypt was thought by the strong Mohammed Ali Pasha (1805-1848 A.D.) to include the draft state of modern paving political and then military intervention. And this intervention has brought serious consequences on the internal and external levels of the Ottoman Empire.
