Abstract

Iraqi society has gone through very difficult circumstances, in the last two decades of the twentieth century, and the first decade of this century, as in 1980 the Iraq-Iran war began, and it lasted eight years, costing the two sides huge material and moral losses. On the second of August 1990, the Iraqi forces entered Kuwait, and the UN Security Council issued Resolution No. 661 on August 16, 1990, according to which the economic blockade was imposed on Iraq. This siege lasted for about thirteen years, which left severe social, economic and cultural disasters on Iraq. In January 1991, American and allied forces launched a fierce war, forcing Iraqi forces out of Kuwait, as these forces struck the infrastructure of this country, as well as losses in Iraqi military capabilities. In addition to thousands of martyrs and wounded as a result of this aggression.
