The trade union movement in Turkey 1980- 2010
Abstract
The issue of the trade union movement in Turkey is one of the important topics in contemporary Turkish history, as this large segment of the role plays an important role in Turkish economic, political, social and cultural life. The development of the Turkish trade union movement has been in stages since its establishment at the end of the Ottoman period, passing through the Republican era, It was affected by the arbitrary laws issued by the governments of the Turkish military coups against it and against the working class. As well as the trade union movement suffered from the mistrust of its working classes, because the last two were dominated by fear of the scarcity of unemployment that was threatening them because of the economic crises, globalization, and privatization, which Turkey was In addition to the employers abandoning their unions, the trade unions lost many of their members. However, the unions tried to perform their duties towards the working class that they represented, even if they were not up to their ambitions.
