The poem ‘Let the days do what they want’ by Imam Shafi'I :a linguistic study
Abstract
This study deals with the poem Let the days do what they want by Imam Shafi'I :a linguistic study. The paper has revealed the verbal wealth in this poem. By showing the most important linguistic methods used in it, the researcher has chosen to study the following variables: phonetic, morphological, grammatical, semantic level through asking the following questions: What is the language, what are its levels and its role in activating internal communication?Thus, language has a major importance and role in life, which is a field of communication, that represents human and life process with a psychological and social aspect that social life is not right and is not complete without it. This study aims to reveal in depth the language contained in (12) verses of Imam Shafi'i poetry in wisdom that contain useful messages for life. In the end, the research proves that Al-Shafi'i is not only a mujtahid, jurist and imam in Islamic sciences, but he is a scholar in Arabic, and a poet of its poets, and that his doctrine is a rich source of linguistics, using the descriptive and analytical approach. The research included an introduction and two sections. The first section dealt with the concept of poetry and the levels of linguistic analysis, including the levels (phonological, morphological, grammatical, in language and terminology. Then the second section came to focus on the linguistic analysis in the poem (Let the Days Do What They Want) by Imam Al-Shafii at the levels mentioned above.
