The present study aims at finding out about the total quality management as one of the new management methods that should be followed in libraries to satisfy libraries goers and meet their information needs. In addition it aims at identifying the principles of the total quality management and its basic requirements in order to be applied to university libraries in general Iraqi university libraries in particular. The study also reveals the steps and stages of the total quality management; the major problems that hinder its application in university libraries; and how to deal with problems and challenges that impede the application of the total quality management in these libraries.
