Description in Immad Al Deen Khaleel’s Minaretand Hurricane Analytical Study

Dr. Immad Al Deen Khaleel’s Minaret and Hurricane is selected as the main subject of the study for its artistic techniques concerning narration, space, dialogue, description, characters and events except the novelist interference by talking instead of the protagonists. Muslawi environment was used as place for the novel events where Mosul revolution in 1959 events are depicted through five days before and after the revolution. The main characters of the novel are: Hashim Abdul Salam, Salma and her suitor Asim Al Dabagh and her father Abdul Rahman and her husband friend Younis, and Hanna.
Various descriptive passages are included in the novel. The study analyzes the descriptive texts and state their artistic and aesthetic dimensions and reveal their various significance. Thus the study consists of an introduction and four sections. Concept and functions of description and its relation with narration are stated in the introduction. Section one deals with description restricted narration through illustrating descriptive narration and description directed for description. Section two deals with free description through illustrating internal emotion, and event description, and event description. Sections three and four are concerned with classified and expressive descriptions through illustrating character, event, place and item description
