Food and Food Providers in Mecca and Medina During the Age of the Message of Islam
Abstract
The study titled "Food and Food Providers in Mecca and Medina During the Age of the Massage of Islam" is a study that investigated the varieties of food that were used to be consumed by the Arabic individual before the advent of Islam including prepared and unprepared food. The most important food varieties were animal meat, wheat, barley, dates, milk and milk products in addition to various fruits and vegetables and the dishes which include them. The study also elucidates the food prohibited by the Islamic law of jurisprudence which are unpalatable for human including the dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine.; that which has been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which has been (partly) eaten by a wild animal, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah. These types of food are prohibited for being harmful for the human being both Muslim and no Muslim and can be harmful to the body and health. Thus Islam attempts to guide the individual to select healthy food choices.The study also elaborated on a number of prominent characters in Mecca and Medina who is mentioned in the references by their generosity guests. Finally, the study discusses the role and guidance of the prophet (Allah's blessing and peace be upon him in providing food for Muslims and overcoming food scarcity).
