The Activity Agriculture in Ancient Egypt
Abstract
The ancient Egyptians enjoyed a real stability in living and housing since they discovered agriculture and from then they were accustomed to reserve grains and crops. They also found their way towards the agrarian reform. As a result, they realized the need to protect the land and crops and they also sought the formation of small villages and secure them against the dangers of natural and wild animals. In fact, the Nile Valley didn't see the agricultural life at one time but has seen slow and gradual stages in agricultural development. They began the process of agriculture clearly since the pre-dynastic period, at that time the ancient Egyptians began uprooting trees and paved the ground for agriculture. The Nile is the essential reason for the existence of life in Egypt in general and agriculture in particular. Moreover, the ancient Egyptians have begun to follow up the annual flooding of the Nile and then they thoroughly plowed soil seed workshops and prepared them for watering during the annual flooding of the Nile. And the agriculture in ancient Egypt was in the Nile Valley and on the edge of the river because of the availability of water and the facilities of bringing water from the river. They constructed canals and built dams and created waterways. As a matter of fact, the existence of water nearby for irrigation did not require great effort in bringing water to places far from its source, as well as the lands surrounding the River Nile are considered the most fertile lands in this place and this is due to the silt carried by the Nile River in the annual flood.
