Incorrect spelling uses and their impact on the linguistic system in the Arabic language
Abstract
This study seeks to show the impact of spelling errors which could occur in writing the standard version of the Arabic language. So, it explains the reasons behind such error. It also shows the relationship between language and writing and how language and the linguistic system are formed by linguistic levels (i.e. sound, morphology, syntax and lexicon). In addition, it explains the role of writing in shaping the linguistic system on which the language is functioning. Then it clarifies the relationship of spelling to the linguistic system by explaining its relationship to linguistic systems or linguistic levels (i.e. phonetic, morphological, syntactic and lexical. Moreover, it shows the relationship of spelling to the written system itself. It also highlights the impact of spelling on the linguistic system through analyzing samples of spelling errors in writing and their impact on the linguistic systems (i.e. sound, morphology, syntax, semantics and writing) Finally, it pinpoints their impact on the linguistic system in general.
