Psychological Exhaustion among Adolescents in Duhok Governorate

Abstract
Adolescence has received the attention of many researchers and psychologists because of the importance of this stage in human life, and psychological exhaustion is a problem whose impact may extend to the inefficiency of a teenager. The adolescent may lose emotional communication with others, which may be a cause of mental health disorder for the adolescent, and in its most extreme case, it may lead to suicide. The objectives of the current research were determined to identify: the level of psychological exhaustion among adolescents in the center of Dohuk governorate at the level of the research sample, as well as the level of psychological exhaustion according to gender (males, females), and the school stage (basic, middle school). In order to achieve the objectives of the research, a scale of psychological exhaustion was prepared, to suit the requirements of the research and the nature of the sample, and it may be in its final form of (25) items, and its apparent honesty was investigated by presenting it to the experts, extracting the discriminatory power of the items and finding the relationship of the degree of each item with the total score of the scale. The stability of the scale was also verified by re-testing. After the scale was ready, it was applied to the sample that consisted of (500) male and female adolescents who were randomly selected stratified by (2%) from the original community, distributed over (21) schools in the center of Dohuk governorate for the year (2016) and after excluding invalid forms The data was statistically analyzed for (477) male and female students and the results of the research were extracted, which showed the presence of statistically significant differences in the level of psychological exhaustion in the research sample as a whole, and no differences in the level of psychological exhaustion according to the gender variable (males and females), as it was found that there are differences Statistically significant in the level of psychological exhaustion according to the variable of the study stage (basic and middle school) and in favor of the preparatory stage. In light of the results, recommendations and suggestions were developed.
