Abstract

The phenomena of (night) and (day) have been employed in the field of old and modern literature . Thus, Many studies have tackled with these phenomena whether indirectly or directly in an independent research . We are encouraged to study this topic for many researchers have employed (night) in the poetic text as an undesired time in which the poets express their complaints . The critical studies agree with this idea . We observe that the phenomenon of ( night ) does not acquire the quality of infinity , especially in the poetry of Emru Al-Qais who depicts ( night) as a world that hides the capabilities and a bond that prevents the poet from achieving his complete existence for the absence of capabilities that may the poet adopts . This absence makes the poet think of his determined fate and feel of being an mortal being . Therefore, we find him disclosing his complaints and sometimes depicting a time space that assists him in achieving his desires and opening a world of capabilities . On the contrast, we observe (the night) in some of his texts sympathizes with the poet and goes with the poet's psychology. So, the research is established on two major axes : first, the (night) as an undesired ; second, the (night) as an attractive.
