The Effectiveness of a Training Program in Creative Drama in Reducing Aggressive Behaviors among Kindergarten Children
Abstract
The current research aimed at identifying the effect of a training program in creative drama in reducing aggressive behaviors among a sample of kindergarten children. The research sample consisted of (30) male and female kindergarten children in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and it was a purposive sample. The research used the semi-experimental approach. The Aggressive Behavior Scale of the Kindergarten Child was used, prepared by the researcher). Its validity and reliability were confirmed. In addition, a program in creative drama was prepared for kindergarten children, and the suitability of the content of the training program and its validity for administering. The research found out that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the treatment group in the pre-post administration of the Aggressive Behavior Scale as a whole and its dimensions in favor of the post-administration in reducing aggressive behavior. Moreover, the results indicated that there are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the treatment group in the post- and follow-up administration of the Aggressive Behavior Scale. The research recommended the need to train children on creative drama to reduce aggressive behavior and to include creative drama in the curricula prescribed for kindergarten children.
