Pre-Islamic poet's awareness of his short life made him seek to create meaning for it through action and achievement, without taking into account prevailing values, whether economic or social. His achievements were represented poetically through plunder of pleasures and excess in practicing ritual of generosity, risk-taking, and war, transcending voice of critic who represents society surrounding poet. Poet adopted argumentative style, presenting cause and reason to give his vision credibility to remove doubt, emphasizing that there is no point in holding back and being stingy as long as man is doomed to harsh condition of annihilation.
