Abstract

This research discusses the role of the international judiciary in the development of the international law of the sea, as one of the main sources that contributed to the development of the principles and rules of this law, with the aim of regulating the use of seas by states, and addressing the resolution of disputes that arose between them and presented to its bodies. The problem of the research was to show the extent of the ability of the international judiciary to develop regulated principles and rules by addressing the maritime disputes before it. The researcher used more than one method in the research, by dividing it into an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion that included results and recommendations. The first section dealt with the definition of the international judiciary and its bodies represented by the Permanent Court of ArbitrationTribunal for the Law of the Sea,
