Event Management Agreements under English law: An analytical comparative study with the Iraqi civil law
Abstract
The event management services agreement is considered as a type of hospitality contracts well-known in the Anglo-Saxon legal systems and the English law particularly . This kind of agreement is a framework contract aimed at providing services for a range of event types for consumers concluded with hospitality business sponsor (known as event organizer or service provider). The service provider could be the person owning the hospitality facilities or administering the facility and it is usually a specialized group of business. This applies to universities and other scientific and cultural institutions which areconcerned with holding conferences and other academic and calling for participation. It is noteworthy that lots of secondary contracts emanate from such framework agreements such as accommodation contract, franchise contractand administrative contracts. However, the Iraqi civil Code (40/1951) does not regulate this kind of agreements because the idea of framework contract is not originally addressed. Iraqi Civil Transaction Code does not address the hospitality contract which is one of the contracts that emanate from the event management agreement.
