The role of UN agencies and programmes in activating human security
Abstract
The concept of human security is a modern concept in international studies, as the conditions following the end of the cold war that the traditional concept of security based on State security was incapable to face the new challenges . The concept was first officially presented through the UNDP Human Development Report (1994), and there are several international mechanisms that have a role to play in the activation of human security, namely, intergovernmental, non-governmental and civil society organizations. The United Nations play a role in the activation of human security through its mechanisms of international organs and specialized agencies associated with the United Nations through the Economic and Social Council's relationship agreements, which play a role in the protection of human rights and security and in their respective areas of competence.and There are programs established by the United Nations, which played an important role in the activation and promotion of human security and rights of individuals.
