The Relation between the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Criminal Court
Abstract
The relationship between international governmental organizations and international NGOs is one of the prominent signs in the development of contemporary international law. These organizations have the tools and international influence that allow them to interfere in several fields. The Red Cross, which is one of the most active humanitarian organizations in the field of armed conflicts and international crises, has been singled out by international law and international humanitarian law with a distinct position. The formation of the International Criminal Court aimed at achieving international criminal justice, by prosecuting and punishing international crimes. The legal relationship between the commission and the court was organized according to several legal texts. This research aims to address the nature of this relationship and its legal consequences in the field of cooperation in punishing the perpetrators of violations of international humanitarian law and the shortcomings in this relationship in many aspects.
