Truth commissions as a mechanism towards the realisation of the right to the truth
Abstract
Truth commissions are considered one of the most important mechanisms that are used in the phase of transitional justice in order to achieve the goals set for this critical stage. The experiences of these commissions have varied according to the specificities of each country. There are dozens of countries that have resorted to this mechanism. The function of these committees in its essence is to reveal the truth behind human rights violation incidents which is considered the basis of activating the right to redress, reparation, accountability and achieving reconciliation.
