Sustainable Development Challenges in Iraq after 2003 and Ways to Address Them
Abstract
The topic of sustainable development has gained the attention of most countries in the world and Arab countries, due to its importance in preserving natural resources and preserving the environment. Economic growth is considered one of the important means of achieving sustainable development, but the rapid growth in population and the exacerbation of political, security, social and economic problems facing Arab countries in general and Iraq in particular, where indicators showed that there is a defect in the exploitation of human and natural resources, which led to the existence of social and economic problems due to the political crisis that Iraq is going through. The research concluded that it is necessary to adopt treatments and solutions, including activating the rule of law and working to educate society through the media and building legal institutions, in addition to the deliberate transition from the government economy to a joint economy between the government and the citizen.
