Abstract

The idea of the research is to identify the reality of civil society in Iraq and determine the priority of womens civil society institutions in activating the political role of Iraqi women. It aims to demonstrate the importance of civil society institutions in activating the political participation of Iraqi women and the obstacles they face in political participation. The importance of research is to explain the role of civil society institutions in the process of political awareness for women which enables them to freely make the political decision-making process. The study is divided into three sections; the first one included the civil society institutions in Iraq, the second, covered civil society and the obstacles to the political role of Iraqi women: reality and obstacles. The third topic was devoted to the study of evaluating the Women Empowerment Organization as a case study. The study concluded that civil society with feminist frameworks is making efforts for the political empowerment of women in making the political decision even if it is in its beginning which requires making more effort that helps empower women by its institutions.
