Abstract

Iran used kidnapping and releasing western hostages as a way of political pressure. Then it was first tested in Tehran at the end of 1979 after of the US embassy personnel were taken hostage. Later, it was applied in Lebanon to the end of 1991, where hostage detaining came to an end, which was of the more important equivocal issues In Iranian- Western relations. By using this policy, Iran achieved a lot of objectives which reflect its basic interest with the West; Thus, studying this matter is as surveying the problematic of Iran's relation with Western states
