Abstract

The study aims to:Develop a psychological coping skills scale for Iraqi university basketball team players.Identifying the psychological coping skills of Iraqi university basketball team players.The researchers used the descriptive method for its suitability and the nature of the research. The research community included Iraqi university basketball team players participating in the preliminary and final rounds of the Iraqi university basketball championship, approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (Student Activities Department), which took place in Mosul and Baghdad during the academic year (2021-2022). The total number of players was 190, distributed across 12 universities. The construction sample comprised 110 players, representing 57.85% of the research community. The application sample consisted of 40 players, representing 21.05% of the research community, and the exploratory experiment sample consisted of 10 players, representing 5.26% of the research community. The psychological coping skills scale was developed after applying scientific statistical methods, and the researchers used the SPSS statistical package.The researchers concluded several findings:The effectiveness of the psychological coping skills scales for Iraqi university basketball team players, which the researchers developed according to the scientific principles of constructing sports scales
