Spatial relationships between the automobile road network and tourism activity in Zakho district
Abstract
The relationship between the network of automobile transportation roads and tourism activity at the level of Zakho District is considered to create spatial benefit for economic, social and cultural development through roads extending towards tourist sites, meaning that transportation represents the main base for tourism and its popularity is capable of generating and attracting traffic by using means of transportation to reduce the distance between Tourist sites then provide spatial access and spatial connectivity, and the development of transportation means make the world resemble a small village. The tourist is concerned with the time to reach the tourist destination he wants to go to through the transportation road network. The research goal: to study the spatial characteristics of the automobile road network, in addition to the network Car roads, their lengths and types, a study of the potential for tourism activity in Zakho district, including tourist sites (natural, archaeological, religious) and tourist services (hotels, restaurants, cafes), then a quantitative assessment of the car road network towards tourist sites through indicators (detours, degree of connection to the sites).
