Cartographic representation of the natural characteristics of Bashiqa district
Abstract
This study aims to represent the natural characteristics of Bashiqa district, which extends over an area of (511.40) km2 in northern Iraq and northeast of Mosul city, administratively affiliated to Mosul district within Nineveh Governorate. Maps of the natural characteristics of the study area were prepared, including (geology, topography, climate, and soil).The study concluded, through the prepared maps, that the study area varies in its natural characteristics in terms of the geology of the area, as it consists of geological formations dating back to the Tertiary and Quaternary periods, and also varies in terms of topography, as the study area consists of flood plains, aggregate plains, plateaus, hills, and mountains. The study area also varies climatically in terms of solar radiation, temperatures, and rainfall. The study area also varies in terms of the nature of its soil, as it is divided according to Bjornke's division into three categories.
