Abstract

The science of interpretation is one of the Islamic sciences that has been and still is the focus of the interest of Muslim scholars throughout ancient and modern times, because it is the only way we can understand the meanings of the Noble Quran. In the era of the Prophet, the interpretation of the Quran was not a necessity for Muslims, but after the death of the Prophet, And in the era of the Companions the Islamic conquests increased, and new peoples entered Islam, so there was a need to interpret the Noble Quran to understand its honorable verses, and to clarify the meanings of its texts. This research attempted to review how the companions were creative in interpretation, because they accompanied the Prophet and witnessed the descent of revelation and the facts that occurred at the time of revelation, and they were the closest people to understanding the Quran after the Prophet. The research aims to: Knowing the Companions approach to interpretation and their sources, knowing the ruling on the interpretation of the Companion, explanation of the importance and advantages of the interpretation of the companion knowing the most famous interpreters of them and their schools of interpretation.In this research, two research methods were relied on: the inductive method and the descriptive method to analyze its data.The first topic includes two demands, the first requirement is devoted to talking about the approach of the Companions in interpretation, and the second requirement includes the rule of interpretation of the companions. As for the second section, under it there are two demands as well. The first requirement is about the importance of the Companions interpretation and its advantages, and the second requirement talks about the schools of interpretation during the time of the Companions and the most prominent interpreters of them.In the conclusion, the most important findings of this research paper were presented, including:1-In the era of the Companions, some of the Qur'an was interpreted and not all of them were interpreted. 2-Adhering to the interpretation of the Companions is an obligation upon Muslims, because they are the most knowledgeable people of the reasons for the revelation of the Quran and its understanding, and because they accompanied the Prophet.3- The Companions restricted themselves to clarifying and interpreting the linguistic meanings that they understood, and they were satisfied with the general meaning.4-The Sahaba relied on the Holy Quran and prophetic hadiths, and ijtihad with The Israelis as sources of interpretation of the Holy Quran.5-In the era of the Companions, the most famous interpreters appeared, such as Abdullah bin Abbas, Abdullah bin Masoud and Ubai bin Kaab, on whose hands great exegetical schools were established.
