International Conferences and Forums and their Contributions to the Alliance of Civilizations Program Interfaith Dialogue Conference as a Case Study
Abstract
The idea of the Alliance of Civilizations was presented to confront and address the ideas that promote violence and refuse to accept the other, such as the clash of civilizations and the ideas of extremism and terrorism. The research attempts to investigate the concept of the Alliance of Civilizations, the reasons behind the emergence of the Alliance of Civilizations initiative, and its goal; focusing on the importance of the role of international conferences, forums, and gatherings with their various names, addresses, forms, and objectives to support the concept of the Alliance of Civilizations, and the possibilities of utilizing the role of international conferences and forums with their various titles and aims, especially those in which cultures are diverse and gather more than one civilization; by urging and encouraging these international gatherings to support the Alliance of Civilizations initiative, spreading ideas of tolerance, peaceful coexistence and acceptance of others, and strengthening relations and ties between different cultures, religions, and civilizations. This is done through programs that are developed and implemented by these groupings in cooperation with the Alliance of Civilizations Foundation at the United Nations, with a focus on the role of the Interfaith Dialogue Conference, and its importance to back and strength the concept of the alliance of civilizations and civilizational communication, as it is the closest to this initiative and the most effective means of consolidating the concepts of dialogue of civilizations, peaceful coexistence, acceptance of others and civilized communication.The research was divided into three sections. The first one included the concept of the Alliance of Civilizations and the reasons behind the establishment of the Alliance of Civilizations institution at the United Nations and the countries that have sponsored it since its beginning. The second section involved the role of international conferences, forums, and gatherings and their contributions to the Alliance of Civilizations. The third one focused on the importance of the Interfaith Dialogue Conference and its contributions to support the Alliance of Civilizations initiative, as it is the closest idea and specialization to the initiative.
