Al-Maafi bin Imran Al-Mawsili is considered one of the great figures of the second Hijri century, a shining star in the history of the city of Mosul, and an imam of the noble hadith of the Prophet. He was one of the scholars who combined the two Imams of science and religion, as he was the owner of a wide world, but he abandoned it and its pleasures asceticism, love of science, and service to his family, and he was a setter of proverbs in asceticism, piety, forbearance, patience, generosity and feeding the poor.He heard from the scholars of his country, and traveled to many countries in order to talk and listen, and more of his sheikhs, so he wrote about the scholars of the Hijaz, Basra, Kufa, Levant, Egypt, and the Jazirah, and heard from him and narrated a lot from him, and he was one of the first to be classified in asceticism and the Sunan. , strife, and literature He devoted his life in the service of the noble hadith of the Prophet until God Almighty passed away in the city of Mosul in the year one hundred and eighty-five (D.185 A.H.), according to the most likely sayings
