Abstract

The subject of Islamic heritage works is one of the topics that opens many areas for understanding Arab-Islamic culture and the spirit of the era that characterizes the age of works. Therefore, the idea of presenting Compilations of the virtues of Baghdad to reveal the motives for writing in the first place, in addition to the compilers of this type of books and knowing the number of books that have been classified on the virtues of Baghdad, as well as revealing the nature of these works, whether they have planning and urban contents or contents for the biographies of those who entered, resided, and happened in Baghdad, as Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi did (463 AH / 1070 AD) and Ibn Asakir (d. 571 AH / 1175 AD) Concerning Damascus, the research identified 3 titles for works titled (The Virtues of Baghdad) out of 14,777 titles mentioned by Haji Khalifa in Kashf al-Zunun, while all we have received from those works is one book by Yazdger al-Kisravi entitled (The Virtues of Baghdad).
