The impact of the VARK model on the development of emotional intelligence among second-grade middle school female students
Abstract
The current research aims to identify "The impact of the VARK model on the development of emotional intelligence among second-grade middle school female students."
The study was based on the experimental method and adopted the experimental design with two equivalent groups and the pre- and post-test. The research sample consisted of (78) students distributed between two experimental and control groups: The first experimental group represented (40) students who studied this group using the VARK model, while the second control group represented (38) students who studied this group using the traditional method.
The researchers prepared a tool to measure intelligence consisting of (35) paragraphs within five areas: (self-awareness, emotional management, empathy, social skills, motivation) based on Daniel Goleman's scale. To extract the research results, the following statistical methods were used (t-test for two independent samples t-test, t-test for two correlated samples t-test Item discrimination equation, Cronbach's alpha equation, Eta square equation to determine effect size, Cohen's d scale). After applying the tool before and after on the two research groups (experimental and control) and conducting statistical analyses, the results showed that the experimental group that studied using the VARK model outperformed the control group that studied using the traditional method in developing emotional intelligence. In light of this, the researchers presented a set of recommendations, the most important of which are: the necessity of adopting modern and diverse teaching strategies, models, methods and approaches by teachers, due to their role in students' ability to follow topics in a comfortable and logical sequence
