Abstract

The Introduction is one of the most important preliminary steps, especially in short story writing, for its vital role in directing the vision of the whole story and disclosing its hidden world. Thus, the introduction represents the entrance gate to the story. However, the introduction is of two types: narrative and descriptive. The first type is characterized by its predominance over other types due to the condensation nature of the short story, which imposes on the writer an artistic style that considers this specificity of the short story. As for the second type, the descriptive introduction has been used lesser than the other types due to its descriptive nature. The study was divided into an introduction and two sections; the first section dealt with the narrative introduction, and the second section dealt with the descriptive introduction.
