Abstract

AbstractTwo types of duplex stainless steels SAF 2205 and SAF 2305 have beenselected in this study to investigate the effect of aging time and temperature on thetensile strength using (ABI) technique. Metallographic studies were conducted onheat treated duplex stainless steels to examine the phase relation ship with tensilestrength. The results showed that with increasing the aging temperature from 400cto 800c the tensile strength of duplex stainless steels increased and reached itsmaximum value at 600c for 72 hrs. At 1000c the tensile strength decreased withincreasing the aging time. For both types of duplex stainless steels these resultsattributed to metallurgical aspects like carbide precipitation, sigma phase, changein grain size, etc.
