The role of the Security Council in re-establishing Iraq's sovereignty
Abstract
The United States of America, which leads an international coalition that invaded Iraq on March 20, 2003, announced that it had completed its military operation in the country on 16/4/2003. The Pentagon has announced the end of hostilities and the start of reconstruction and humanitarian assistance in Iraq. For this reason, a military administration headed by J. Garner, later turned into the so-called Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), formed "the Authority" on May 8, 2003, the date on which the United States and Britain sent a letter to the President of the Security Council including a declaration that they were responsible for the administration of Iraq as occupying States.
