Abstract

In ancient times (2000 BC), engineers were subjected to a harsh application of responsibility. If, for example, an engineer caused the death of the employer's son, the son of the engineer would be killed. Throughout the ages, this view of the engineer has diminished so that he enjoys immunity from responsibility for his mistakes. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the consulting engineer was questioned about his professional mistakes, but there were very few judicial claims in this regard until 1950, when the judicial claims began to increase widely, especially in the United States of America. Nowadays, in the light of scientific and cultural progress in the world, the responsibility of the consultant engineer has become more specific. The legislation of the State has dealt with aspects of this responsibility in its various dimensions in line with the reality of the requirements of this profession, which has branched and expanded considerably.
